Bur Oak Property.
All routes will cycle past Maywood's Bur Oak property at the north-east corner
of Cty J and Rangeline Road. Donated to the City of Sheboygan in 2005 by the
Garton Family, this 35-acre site is host to numerous tree, plant and wildlife
species. It is used for special programs hosted by Maywood.
The
Old
Plank Road Trail will be enjoyed by riders on the 65 and 100-mile routes. This 17-mile long multi-purpose recreational trail is
paved and offers many short climbs and winding descents.
In the mid-1800’s, wooden planks made the best roads. The Old Plank
Road Trail parallels Hwy. 23 on the original plank road route.
All roads and trail segments are paved on this tour.
Lime Kilns. Riders on the 50, 65 and 100-mile routes may see the historic Lime Kilns located just west Hwy 67 near Lime Kiln Road.
Johnsonville. Riders on the 25, 50, 65 and 100-mile routes will pass through Johnsonville, home of the famous Johnsonville Brat!
Wildlife. On your tour, look for wildlife commonly found in this area. You may see wild turkeys, whitetail deer, ring-necked pheasants, hawks, and great blue heron in the wetland. We also encourage you to tour Maywood on your return. The park features several distinct habitat areas including prairie, maple forest, conifer forest, and wetlands.

This route is quite a bit more challenging than the 25-miler, as most riders have experienced! Numerous river crossings make the ride interesting with scenic bridges. Start out with a relaxing rest stop at Lakeland College. 65 & 100 Mile Routes:
Mass Start at 7:30 am – Check-In & Registration
begins at 6:30 am
This beautiful and challenging tour offers the best variety of scenery, some large climbs and winding descents, and quiet backroads of the Northern Kettle Moraine State Forest. Start out with a relaxing rest stop at Lakeland College. Follow arrows straight back to the Taylor Memorial Field Alumni Pavilion, a beautiful setting by the pond and home to a large number of Canada Geese, for this stop staffed by helpful Lakeland College volunteers. Continue on to Rhine Center and Elkhart Lake via a roller coaster ride of hills to the Broughton Sheboygan Marsh Park rest stop at the Three Guys and A Grill Lodge. Look for our friendly volunteers at the outdoor pavilion located behind the Marsh Lodge. From the marsh, cyclists will ride through picturesque Elkhart Lake. In 1845, the first farming settlers from the Rhineland of Germany came to this area to share the wooded shoreline of Elkhart Lake with a sizable Indian population. Many of the buildings have kept their 19th century charm. It's flat through Glenbeulah and on to rest stop #3 at the Wade House Educational Center. The Wade House and Wesley Jung Carriage Museum is a State Historic Site, formerly a stagecoach inn built in the 1850’s. A few challenging climbs await, but in Greenbush cyclists can decide to either continue on an extended and very scenic Kettle Moraine loop of the 100-mile century route, or head back toward Maywood on the 65-mile route.
All riders will head back east via a stretch of the Old Plank Road Trail, then travel south around Plymouth before turning north into Johnsonville—home of the famous Johnsonville Bratwurst. Rest stops are located at Whitetail Bowhunters Clubhouse and the Sheboygan County Aviation Heritage Center. Then weave through the turns and past the Sheboygan County Airport to an optional fun stop at the Bulitz Farm & Petting Zoo, giving riders an opportunity to meet and feed the animals. Finally, riders are welcome to tour the firehouse at the Town of Sheboygan Volunteer Fire Department. From the Firemen's Park, it's only a short ride back to Maywood.
Riders continuing on the 100-mile route on the extended Kettle Moraine loop will enjoy the ups and downs of the Kettle Moraine on their way to Armstrong (Home of Champions!), and a LUNCH rest stop served at the Ice Age Visitor Center. Take a moment to walk in the center and view interesting interpretive displays. Enjoy the descent from the rest stop and continue on a beautiful stretch past several lakes on your way back to Sheboygan County. Peddle the quiet and scenic stretch heading back into Greenbush for your second well-deserved rest stop at the Wade House State Historical Site. After this second time through, the route follows Plank Road to the Old Plank Road Trail meeting up with riders from all routes in Johnsonville.
