General Program Information
The Team Maywood Training Program is a four-month program designed for cyclists who would like the support of trainers and group rides in preparing for long-distance cycling, including 100-mile century rides. The program includes weekly rides, meetings and workshops all designed to increase a rider's skill, knowledge, and physical fitness. Training is targeted to your specific riding ability and multiple riding groups are offered based on your riding speed and skills.

Training rides are held every Monday night, rain or shine. Rides leave the Maywood parking lot at 5:30 p.m. sharp.

Weekend rides are scheduled throughout the summer and allow participants to take on longer distances. SAG support is provided on weekend rides.

Registration in the Maywood Earth Ride is included in the program fee. This year's ride will be Saturday, September 15, 2012.

- Helmets are mandatory on all rides.
- You must provide your own bicycle and it must be in good working condition.
- You must provide your own water bottles. Refilling stations are provided
on longer rides
- Road and hybrid bikes are encouraged but not required.
- A parent or guardian must accompany all riders between the ages of 12 and 17.

Group Training Levels
*Group one - average pace 10-12 mph
Emphasizes basic riding skills and endurance building
*Group two - average pace 12-14 mph
Advances basic skills and builds group riding skills including double pace lines.
*Group three - average pace 14-16 mph
Teaches intermediate skills including double and rotating pace lines.
*Group four - average pace 16-18 mph
Provides advanced skills including rotating single and double pacelines, echelons, intervals, and sprint training.
*Group five - average pace 18-20 mph
For the competitve cyclists adding advanced skills and knowledge with pacelines, echelons and more frequent intervals and sprints.
